What is the structure of the pool based open water session?
The sessions start with a group warm-up and HVO, then we will work on some stroke technique and open water skills practice. It will then move on to speed and distance tolerance where the coach will tailor the set for you.
Is this session suitable for beginners?
To get the most from these sessions you need to be comfortable swimming a minimum of 50m continuously, ideally in freestyle. If you prefer swimming breaststroke and are comfortable covering the distance with this stroke then you will be fine! All swimmers need to be comfortable being out of their depth and jumping or diving into deep water. The pool depth ranges from 2m - 4m.
How do I get feedback from the coaches?
Your coach will email you after the session with personalised feedback that includes your swimming metrics from the session, suggestions on stroke technique drills to practice and ideas for your own training before the next session. Please note: The pool does not permit recording of any swimmer so the coach will not be able to record or photograph you while you are swimming.
