NEW Orca Openwater Perform
The Openwater Perform FINA is the first Orca wetsuit with FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) certification. This wetsuit has been designed for swimmers who are looking for the most flexibility, a neutral buoyancy and thermal insulation to compete in open water.
Features of the Openwater Perform wetsuit:
FINA Approval – this wetsuit is the first to have FINA’s certification, meaning it has passed the exhaustive tests performed by FINA. It can therefore be used in official FINA open water competitions.
Yamamoto 40 Cell Neoprene – used in the shoulders and back together with the Infinityskin lining. This material can stretch by up to 130%, more than double its original size, providing maximum performance in your swim stroke. For the wide range of movements that occur in the shoulders, it offers 72% less resistance than a conventional wetsuit.
Thermal Insulation -the torso features Yamamoto 39 technology which ensures sufficient thermal insulation for competitions. Its 3 mm thickness together with the infinity skin2 lining ensure 77% more protection when compared to not wearing a wetsuit.
Infinity Skin2 Lining -the inner lining provides a feeling of absolute freedom. Designed from a high elasticity nylon incorporating bamboo fibers, this technology provides greater flexibility in every stroke. It maintains body heat longer, reduces bad odours and the presence of bacteria in your neoprene. It is also composed of natural and environmentally sustainable materials, to avoid skin irritation and to care for the environment.
Ultimate Seal Collar -the combination of laser cutting on the neck and the inverse Velcro reduces friction, preventing any abrasion on the skin.
Surf Swim School Verdict:
If you’re a fan of the Equip or Alpha wetsuits then you’ll love this! The new Openwater Perform wetsuit sits in between the two but has been slightly adapted specifically for open water swimmers rather than being designed with triathlons in mind and transitions.
The wetsuit is nice and flexible and features a high specification neoprene, it’s neutral buoyancy and great to swim in! You can swim all 4 strokes in this wetsuit – our Head Coach certainly put it through a thorough test! We tested it in the sea with approx 2ft swell and moderate wind chop.
It’s been designed with FINA regulations in mind so it’s a plain wetsuit with just the brand visible. For those swimmers that aren’t fans of highly designed wetsuits with lots of colours, you’ll probably appreciate the plain, discrete, almost stealth-like look of this wetsuit!
